...Last album you bought and what was it like out of 10?
I'll kick us off with In Flames - Come Clarity....Some great metal tunes on there, thought it was distinctly average on first listern but since has grown on me and is a super listern.
Best song: 'Take this Life'
Rating - 8/10tup:

Suicide Sally and Johnny Guitar is THE track of 2006. Kin AWESOME!!!!
It's taken a bit of stick from the oh so 'knowledgeable' hacks in the music press, and for a moment, because of that, I doubted my ability to latch on to a good tune. But then I found out it was lead singer and fellow 40something Bobby Gillespies favourite song on the album and all the doubts and self-loathing disappeared in a cloud of opium smoke.
Riot City Blues - Primal Scream 9/10
BUY IT!!!

Not sure if it'll be on their new album, it may just be a non-album song. Good song though, one of my favourites and they performed it very well when I went to see them live.
Back on topic, the last album I bought was the new Muse one, Black Holes and Revelations. And it's brilliant. 9.5/10

Avalanche - Sufjan Stevens
7/10
Its the stuff that didn't fit on the seminal Illinoise album (10/10 easily, perhaps even an 11), so cannot be rated any higher. If you haven't heard of him check him out, good stuff.
Re: Arctic Monkeys. Is it just me or there a slight doubt about this lots credibility. The cultural refernces to TV shows that were shown before they were even born and the knowingness of the post punk produciotn values makes me a tad suspect.

Just got the new Tom Petty cd, Highway Companion.8.5/10 - if your already a fan you won't be disappointed, if not give it a try, proper American rock music, without any showbiz bullshit or glitz, just proper musicianship . Great guitar as usual from Mike Campbell, TP's long standing buddy.

Another example of the NME picking out **** bands and telling people to like them. They are a bag of ****ing shite. If people tried listening to the music before crowing how much they were into a band cos they think it's cool to be into them, then untalented fraudsters like the Arctic Monkeys might not be so ****ing keen to assault our aural senses with such amateurish and tunelees ****!!!!!

Slightly harsh mate - whilst i agree with your sentiments and there were much, much better albums around last year, they're not too bad - they've unfortunately been overhyped and blown out of all proportion, a raw, decent band which has now been lost amongst all the fookin stupid hype!!....

Does Raw mean poor singer backed by not very good musicians then? If so, then they are raw. Raw and ****ing shite.
Maybe they could do a duet with Lily Allen, then I could play it through the kitchen window to keep the cats out of me fooking garden.

No idea what they are labelled as - indie(ish), kind of same mould as most of the new bands on the scene. Pretty easy listening - only their second album.
