As some of you refer to them (MK DONS to me) have had a great start to the season.I said last season and i think it was Wisey who agreed with me,that if the Dons were in the promotion spots, then their crowds would increase on their already decent fan base. The Dons got just short of 6,500 for yesterdays home game and as i said last season, with a new stadium and promotion they could become very successful and very well supported. If City had gone down we would have struggled to get 6,500 im sure. I know alot of people dont like them, because they moved to Milton Keynes, but it was the only way forward for a club as small as Wimbledon.Milton Keynes was a good move, because of the catchment area with no football clubs of any credibility in the vicinity. If Milton Keynes had formed a football club it would have taken them years to get into the league and this was a fast track solution and wether we like it or not, they are here in the football league and are moving in the right direction.MK Dons could emulate the Wimbledon of old and become a truely great success story.tup:

It certainly is a forward looking town -- what ever you want its there and if it isnt they will have it soon -- My son lives just outside the center, lots of little villages and pubs there and it seems to be a great place to live -- exept that only footie team is the franchise dons

Aye and the roundabouts. First time I visited his home the directions were something like -- leave the motorway, then turn right at the 13th roundabout -- I kid you not lol

"only way forward for a club as small as Wimbledon"
Bullshit, jimmy. The real Wimbledon is still going strong in its own conurbation with plenty of fans and sit 8th in the Rymans Premier, 4 promotions from being where they belong back in the league.

If Julian Rhodes decided to upsticks and move 70 miles away from Bradford you'd be one of the first to complain.
Not knocking the Milton keynes people who follow the Dons but where were they when Milton Keynes City needed their support, they have been handed a ready made packaged league club on their doorstep courtesy of the shisters at the FA. The very least the FA should have done was stop them changing their name, because however you look at it they are fraudsters operating as Wimbledon of a sort in a completely different City.
Still, agree that they will probably go up.tdwn:

Please dont swear at me,i would never use colourful language like that towards you SFB:rolleyes: .AFC Wimbledon got 2597 last week in a league where the average attendence is 2/300.I fully aggree with what you have said, but whats done is done and the MK Dongas are now a team in the football league (by default and disgustingly so) and all i was doing was pointing out, that they could become a success story.Everyone thought they would fail to attract the people of Milton Keynes, but that has been proved wrong and the public are embracing the club.

That makes more sense. Sorry for swearing *begs for forgivenessprayer: prayer: notworthy: notworthy: *
What's done is done buit it will always leave a nasty taste in the mouth. I would have much rather seen an investment in Milton keynes City or a new team in Milton Keynes start at the bottom and do a Wimbledon if you get my drift, go from non-league obscurity to the top.
I'm not surprised that it has caught on in MK. Previously they were all Arsenal and Man U fans, and I imagine they have now caught the home team bug and prefer to go watch live football in the flesh.
I'm not sure the public as a whole embrace the Club the way you suggest, but to be fair to them they have avoided like the plague any controversy over the last year and try to keep away from the REAL Wimbledon debate.
It'll be interesting if AFC carry on going the way they are and end up meeting them at some point! I'm hoping they have a good FA Cup run and meet the Donkeys - that would be class!

An FA Cup meeting would certainly stir up some interest and im sure one the TV Channels would have it as their live game.tup:
There would more than likely be a major demonstration by the AFC Wimbledon supporters, even though nothing will be gained from it.

I've met a few of their fans (MK Dons that is) and they are all decent people who are now loyal fans of the MK D - as for MK City well who knows !
What's happened is history now and the facts are there - MK Dons with their new stadium nearing completion can only grow their fanbase.
I was saddened to see what happened to Wimbledon - they never got their local council backing when at Plough Lane ( that sounds familar :-) )
I can see MK Dons getting 15,000 plus in their new gaff if they do well.

But Jimmy, do you think that is a good thing? They have stolen club and its league position and have now positioned it in League 1. Sure they have 10,000 fans but they haven't supported the club through the leagues, which Wimbledon fans did.
They just aren't a real football club, in any meaningful sense, and their continued presence in our competion makes my skin crawl. ****'em!

Euro, i do not think it is a good thing and agree with you, but most people thought they wouldnt become a success, they look like a club on the rise and could establish themselves as a force in the championship in years to come.
The club stole the identity of another to fast track themselves through the leagues, which is despicable and if it had been my club i would be devastated.
MK Dons should have started out in the Southern league and worked their way through the leagues as other clubs have had to do. Aldershot Town reformed in the Southern league and have returned to the football league, which has taken them over 20 years to do.
Winkleman should have formed the Mk Dons and got them in the southern league and worked their way up the football pyramid. The club would have got the respect of every football fan in the land this way and not hated by all football fans, as they are now.

Get over it people - MK Dons are here to stay - don't stay bitter and twisted or you'll end up like a few people who come on here lol!
Whilst what happened may have not been anything like the proper route - no one can deny that MK Dons are a club that can grow to be a force in footie - just look at the potential fanbase they have and the stadium (still to be completed i know).
I'll give them credit for getting the club in the right direction and a stadium without the issues we have here at City.
I still look out for AFC Wimbledons results as they are pretty near to where i first entered this world lol - as much as they were fekked up, their local council did zilch to help them when they became homless tenants at Selhurst Park.
