Eh up! I play for the Field Head pub in the Kirklees Sunday League. I like to think of myself as similar to Gazza but my teammates prefer to think of me as Jan Molby!!
Only have midweek games towards the end of the season and thats when my shins start to give me some jip! Once a week is bad enough, twice a week...forget it jawdrop:

Change your boots or get ankle supports....
Could also be the way you run...Maybe flatfooted????
Shinsplints are common place for roadslappers....

I stopped playing two seasons ago after playing County Level on a saturday and Sunday league for 21 years.I never suffered any serious injurys until i reached my 30s,then i had 3 really bad injurys and that was it after the last injury when i broke four ribs and couldnt sleep for 2/3 months.I still get the urge to play now and have turned down several offers from friends at clubs around Bradford.

Still get the urge to play though & Im constantly tempted by offers from mates to join their teams:cool:
I may make a comeback in 5 a side shortly to regain my fitnesstup:

Played for loads of Sunday Leage sides around Bradford and finished up with The New Inn, Baildon 8 years ago.
Played Saturday in the West Riding County Amateur League with Trinity Athletic.
(Saturdays and Sundays at centre midfield, and after a skinfull. Jeez, how the feck did I do that?)
During my 14 years I had 3 torn ligaments to my left knee.
Moved up Scotland and played 3 seasons with Costorphine Thistle and 1 season with Broxburn Utd.
Hung my studded boots up 4 years ago due to niggly injuries (always happens as soon as you hit the early to mid 30's. I never had so many. If it aint my anckle it's my groin. If it aint my groin it's my shoulder etc etc etc).
Plus I was sick of big Sweaty's kicking lumps out of the token Englishman.
5's only for an old duffer like me now, but still give the young uns a taste of the old Beever magic, when I have the energy and I'm not blowing out of my ass.

So we have 6 players and one wannabe! Yeadon, look around, you'll find a team I'm sure. Do you play in goal, mate?
Nice to see some of us actually play as well as support. it helps I think to have played the game. I'd hazrad a guess there a few on here that play but aren't posting.
TBH I can't wait for jonnyd to get the 5 aside sorted, if it's nowt else it will be a great laugh and might bring this little community closer. I'm itching for a bit of 5 aside action.
We lost our first game 2-1 (missed penalty and a sending off cost us, apparently you can't call a referee a w**ker anymore, somebody tell Deano that!:D ). We won our midweek game on Thursday 4-0 and tbh I enjoyed it more than many City games! Quality football, solid defense, attacking, fluid going forward. Yes I was on the benchtdwn: . Soon to be changed, I see myself as a Wayne Jacobs, give it 3 games and I'll be bakc in and it'll take crowbar to jemmy the role away from me.
Jimmy, never knew you were so good. You don't look like a footballer, except for Iain Dowie maybe!roflmao: roflmao: roflmao: You play up front then? Any chance you want to come out of retirement?
Perhaps if some of the quiet ones come out we might get a decent eleven out of this board - bring on the County Cup!tup:

I've played against North Bradford in years gone by and I must say I've never played against such a tall team, everyone must have been well over 6foot !
It was murder defending set pieces.
BTW Jimmy which team/teams at county amateur level did you play for ?

Everytime I played up at your gaff at Baildon, the communal bath in the changing room was always full of ice cold water, did you always do this on purpose ? :-)
