Whilst i enjoy the comfort of seats at VP nowadays, i miss the games on the Kop when we used to stand as a group..(Especially winter night games). There was a lot more atmosphere then imo, whats everybody else think, is it an age thing

As far as I'm concerned it's an age thing. I used to like standing up all match 20 years ago, but now I prefer my seat and as much comfort as it's humanly possible to get.

It's funny... but I really miss standing in all weathers on cold terraces and feeling the crush on the barriers..... I really do!

....in the old Bradford end it seemed as though it didn't matter how many had turned up we all crammed in together for a good sing-song and there would always be someone at the back who would push forward and start the domino effect....

....Hot bovril, steamy breath, the fog of cigarette smoke and the sound of "ah be do ah be do dah dey......"

....magic memories:D

Now I'm just one of the thousands of seated non-entities who fidgets for leg-room on DVT inducing plastic seats.

It used to be great fun in the old Bradford End, the right side V the left side. I also went into the ends of a few big clubs to experience the atmosphere and some of those sways were quite something. But some people did get squashed and have to be carried out by the red cross. It wasn't much fun if you were right in front of one of those metal barriers.
It's a safety thing really, less fun = less people injured in this case.
I also remember that stale smell of sweat.

Standingtup: ...those were the days when City scored & you ended up at the bottom of the Kop when you started at top, minus a shoe & plus a bloody nose/black eye:eek: tup: ...The atmosphere hasn't been the same since the all-seater stadiums were enforcedtdwn:

AHHHHHHHHHHHH The Bradford End was fantastic in the early 80s.The smoke from cigs wafting in your face, the steamy sweat from all been crammed together, then the smell we all dreaded from the Big Beer Monster,a fart from the Tetleys the night before.A big gap would open to identify the culprit of such a putrid smell.vomit:those were the days.tup:

Then there was "Knees up mother Brown" and splattered at the bottom of the Bradford End,quality.:D

The Kop was fantastic in the 90s!! Can't beat standing imo....there was a much better atmosphere and it was cosy and kept me warm, especially on cooooooold nights!

TBB, what kept you warm, or don't you want to know in that cramped atmosphere that was the Kop. It could have beenm anybody!jawdrop:

I prefer the standing, it's nice to get an away fixture where there is terracing, it brings back some great memories. You cannot get the same from all-seater stadia. Still on balance safety takes precedence. Whilst I'd love to have the old Spion Kops, Hillsborough taught football some lessons.

TBH I stand more than I sit at City games, but shhh don't tell the safety officer, he'll have all three cameras trained on me and ban me for life!jawdrop:
